TIME FLIES WHEN YOU'RE RENOVATING A HOUSE

WOW! Has it really been four years?

Four years since we sold our newly constructed house in a thriving neighborhood to move into a 150 year old farmhouse?

I remember the evening like it was yesterday; I had just given up my search for an old farmhouse to relocate and raise our family of seven in when I came across the listing. Literally, just hours before I told the Lord, ”I am just going to be content where we are.” After all, it had been a solid year that I had an unexplainable desire to move our family into the country with some chickens and some land. I don’t know if it was my love for the hit show Fixer Upper or if it was feeling that our family was outgrowing our .8 of an acre lot, but whatever the reason was, the desire was compelling—even consuming at times. I would tell the Lord, “this is so materialistic; I’m content where I am.” Yet, I would find myself searching Zillow nightly.

Little did I realize the desire was from Him. The Bible tells us that, as we seek Him with all of our hearts, He himself places those desires in us. They compel us forward into His plan.

So, after about 100 things miraculously fell into place—including a home inspection on a 150 yr old home—the house was ours! Four years and a ton of work later, it is still a work in progress. This is our project: the art of us taking an old house full of history and making it our own. Now, the story is ours, and there is still A LOT to do, but we are enjoying life every step of the way! We’re building something beautiful, and the house is nice too! ;)

Check out some Renos from the past four years..
