The Mrs. Rev Podcast: Moving On

Everyone goes through loss and pain. Whether it is the death of a family member, loss of a job, or separation of a family member, God does not want you to live in that pain forever!

A lot of people have a hard time deciding to move on. Being hurt causes other people to want to pay attention to you and help you. However, when you get tied up with loss and identify with it, it pauses that season of your life. Then, instead of moving forward in peace and joy as God desires, you stay in a place of pain and bitterness.

You have to decide if you want people to feel bad for you or if you want to feel better.

There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Through His Word, God tells us that everything has a time. When you are facing a loss, it is okay to feel sad, hurt, or angry. But there is also a time to move on. That does not mean that you pretend that the hurt did not happen! It means that you choose to live in a place where that experience does not affect your ability to feel joy and peace and enjoy life.

Healing is a decision.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds every wound.” Psalm 147:3

Here are some steps you can take to move on from whatever negative situation is holding you back.

  1. Choose to forgive.

  2. Celebrate the good things in your life.

  3. Actively guard your heart and mind.

  4. Take your hurts to the Lord quickly.

  5. Choose gratitude.

Do not fear! God knows the pain that you are feeling. Remember that Jesus experienced every human emotion and temptation. He knows and he cares about every tear you cry. When you choose to trust Him, you will be able to look back and remember the goodness of God instead of the pain.

When God heals, he heals you completely.

Pray this: God, thank you for caring about me deeply and uniquely. Help me to see any hidden hurt in my heart. God, I want to be pure and whole before you. I want to live in the identity you have given me: daughter of the king, chosen, peaceful, and whole. Help me not to be afraid but to confront any past pain I am holding onto head-on. I trust you and know that as I do, you will never leave me or forsake me. You will be my helper and you will heal my heart. I thank you for always wanting what is best for me and for helping me every day. I love you, Jesus! Amen.
