Q & A with Pastors Nathan and Joie Miller - Family Edition – Part 2

WARNING: The enemy will try to use certain voices, even your own children at times, in an attempt to strip you of your God-given authority. Being real with your children in these moments will show authenticity and display God's sovereignty and forgiveness over your own mistakes as an individual. Often when our children or any Christian act out, it results from one thing: their forgotten identity. Forgetting our identity in Christ can take us to places and choices that are out of character, causing disruptions. Our role as parents is to give our children firm discipline and fill them with affirmations. God has called them to do so much more than mistakes they make, remind them of that!

The Father affirmed Jesus himself! God affirms Jesus before He has done any miracle. Our role as parents is to be like the Father. We can do this by telling our children:

  1. I love you.

  2. I accept you.

  3. I am well pleased with you.

  4. This is who you are.

As parents, we are the closest representation on Earth to the Heavenly Father. They are watching how we respond and react to their actions and mistakes. We lead them to who they are through His eyes. We speak potential into whom they are called to be. The world is trying to lure them away from this calling to a false identity. The world wants them to conform to a culture that is not Godly.

Our children can often doubt who they are. It is our charge as their parents to be a “seer.” We release the Word of the Lord over their lives, allowing us to say exactly what God is saying to them. Raising our children in the Word is done first by modeling it within ourselves. We should flood their world with the Word, Christian-based shows, worship music, and family Bible studies. By providing these opportunities, we can model to our children that the gateway to the heart is the ears and eyes!

Our children have been given to us as a gift from the Father. We have the honor of showing them the love of God. In turn, they will learn to operate in the world with the same love of our Father.
