Identifying and destroying insecurity

Have you ever dealt with insecurity? Most people have at some point, but identifying and destroying insecurity is the key to living out the calling God has for your life! If you’ve ever struggled with insecurity, spend some time praying through each of these four truths.

1. God created you uniquely.

There is a purpose behind everything about you. God knew your interests, strengths, motivations, and even the unique way that you hear from him. When you embrace how God made you, you can walk in security.

Apply it: Thank God for the way he made you unique!

2. God’s grace is given for who you are, not who you wish you could be.

We often make the mistake of using other people as a measuring stick, but that is contrary to the will of God! In Galatians 6:35, Paul writes that we need to do the best we can with our own lives. If you feel afraid of failure or like you’re not living up to what people expect, remember that God’s grace is enough for you. You just have to receive it!

Apply it: Step out and have the courage to start doing what God is prompting you to do. Walking in faith will help you access the grace of God and His strength.

3. God’s Grace isn’t for who you’re not or for who you pretend to be.

What masks do you put on because of insecurity? You can’t find freedom until you are authentic with yourself, God, and others.

Apply it: Do you have a friend who you can be vulnerable with? Take some time to have an open conversation with them about something you are going through. If that step feels too hard, start by being vulnerable with God and with yourself! You will find that God does his best work when you come to him with humility and honesty.

4. Embrace and Celebrate You

You can attack insecurity by celebrating who God made you to be. Even if you don’t like a certain attribute, find a way to thank God for it! Remember that He made you, and He does not make mistakes.

Apply it: Take some time for self-care and celebrate what you love about yourself!

Pray this: Father God, thank you for drawing out insecurity from me. I want to be who you called me to be and to love how you made me. You are my creator! You don’t make mistakes, so I’m going to celebrate how you made me. Help me to see myself the way you see me and to reflect that to the world. In Jesus’ name, amen!
