God in the Middle

Do you feel like God is calling you into a new season? In order to make room for God wants to do in your life, you have to stretch! While stretching is uncomfortable it does not break you; it produces growth! When you submit to the process and choose to stretch, you’re saying that you want to accommodate the increase God wants to give you. In today's episode, I'll share with you three ways that you can challenge your capacity and become more equipped to do what God has called you to do.

I find that every time I get into a good rhythm, God shows me that it’s time for something new. God wants to grow some things in us. In order to do that we might have to get a little bit uncomfortable.

When God wants to do a new thing through us, he has to do a new thing in us. Jesus talks about it in Matthew 9:16-17:

““No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.””

God needs you to be able to stretch. That doesn’t mean it is always comfortable (as anyone who has been pregnant will know!). But the stretch will cause you to grow. In fact, being willing to stretch as God does what he wants to do in your life shows that you have faith! It shows that you believe greater things are coming.

Three things you need to know about your capacity:

  1. Change doesn’t have to be drastic to be effective.

  2. Your capacity is not fixed! It can grow.

  3. Capacity is not a limitation. It is an invitation.

3 Areas to Challenge Your Capacity

1. Your Focus- You can’t add hours to your day, but you can focus your energy on important things in your life.
Q: What can I delegate? What makes me feel excited? What makes me feel drained?

2. Tenacity - Develop the drive to just not quit.
Q: Think about a time when you quit before you reached your goal. Why did you quit? How would you life look different if you had stuck with it? What can you do to help yourself keep going the next time you want to quit?

3. Creativity - Take the lid off your thoughts! Allow yourself to dream with God without placing any limits on Him.
Q: What limitations have you put on God? Take them to Him in prayer today. Ask God for supernatural faith to believe His plan for your life.

Pray this: Father God, thank you for stretching me. Even when it feels uncomfortable, I know that you are with me and that you are walking with me through the process. Help me to take the limits off and dream with you. If there’s anything keeping me from expanding my capacity, reveal it to me so that I can stretch to where you want me to be. In Jesus’ name, amen!
