Creating Boundary Lines The Devil Can't Cross

When you are faced with a challenge, do you run from it? Or do you confront it? As Christians, God has given you the authority to speak up when things in your life are operating against the Word of God. Do you believe that? You can recite a scripture until you’re blue in the face, but if you don’t believe it, nothing will change. The Bible is living and active. It’s not meant to just sit on your nightstand. Put it in action!

You’re either going to accept something as normal in your life, or you’re going to confront it.

Sometimes Christians put up with little things that do not line up with the Word and then they turn into big things. Don’t let this be the case for you! The Word of God is a mirror so that you can see what is going on and put things back into alignment.

Your words matter!
When I picture creating lines in my life, I picture a permanent marker. When you speak the Word of God, it is something that cannot be erased. It creates a boundary line so that not just anyone can move across it! If there is an area of your life that does not line up with the Word of God, you need to take a step back and look at where you opened the door to the enemy. Luke 10:19 says, “ I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy” (NLT). So that means that the devil has no power unless you have given it back to him.

Don’t let that condemn you or make you fearful. It can be hard to break the cycle of speaking what you are used to hearing your parents say or what you are used to saying. You may not have grown up in church or understanding the promises in the Bible, but you can decide to break the cycle. It’s not too late.

Take ownership of your faith.

“My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge,” Hosea 4:6 (NIV).

Take some time to find out what you believe-- not what your parents believe or what a preacher believes. Look at the Word of God! Understanding God’s promises for yourself is part of maturing as a Christian.

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ,” Romans 10:17 (NASB).

When you speak the Word of God, you remind the enemy of who you are and what belongs to you. Determine that you are going to speak into your future right now. You can decide where your life is heading by what you say. You can have everything God has provided for you!

Pray this: God, thank you for your Word, and thank you for giving me the authority to speak your truth over my life. I know that you will never fail. Help me to control my tongue and use the faith I have to speak your truth into my life. May I see more and more of your goodness every day. I love you, Lord. Amen.
