Your Story is Good

Have you ever started a book that was really slow in the beginning?

In fact, most books that I read, I have to press through the first few chapters to even discover how committed I am to seeing the book through until the end. It isn’t until the plot gets good or there is a pivot in the story that my interest is hooked. At that point, I’m invested to see how the story ends.

The Bible likens your life to a story. The Bible says that all of your days have been recorded before one of them has come to pass. God is even referred to as the author and perfecter of your faith. That means that He is a very present God; He is vested in your story. Yes, you have a part to play. You have choices to make and your obedience to serve God and walk in His ways are vital to a good ending, but God is at work through it all. Some of the greatest words in the Bible are “but God”. That small phrase that injects the power of God into the story. Don’t give up on what God is doing in your life. Don’t put a period where God is putting a comma.

Even the junk in our story—the stuff that He didn’t author—He takes and turns those things around for your good when you give it to Him! Don’t give up now. If you are still breathing, then God is still at work and your story isn’t finished being written. You could be on the verge of the biggest plot twist ever—in your marriage, in your family’s salvation, in your finances, in your health. You could be at the point in your story where things start to get good. I’m not talking about good as in juicy; I’m talking about good as in the Goodness of God—God showing up and showing off.

Don’t give up on your circumstance; allow God space through staying in faith and to turn it all around. Wake up every day expecting that “but God moment” to show up on the pages of your life! The moment where something was lost but now is found; that point where what seemed dead is now alive; the part of your story where in one moment, with one word—everything changes. A plot twist in your favor is on the way!

Remember, if your story isn’t good, it’s not over. God is working! He gives beauty for ashes and finds a way to take every plot that the enemy had to take you out, to discourage you, to make you quit, and He turns it around for you!
