Keep Knocking

I want to speak to the woman whose heart is weary today. The woman who has been fighting in faith, fighting for her family, for her marriage, for her dreams, for her healing, for her (you fill in the blank). Your heart is aching, desiring to see the Lord show up on your behalf, to see answers to your tear-filled prayers. You’re holding onto the glimpses God has shown you and standing on His faithfulness despite circumstances looking contrary. You’re going up to the altar again believing for that same “thing.” You’ve maybe even seen others around you receive their answer while you are still waiting. A day rarely goes by that you don’t lay down whatever your “fill in the blank” is before the Lord. You’re a woman of great faith, you are doing all the things you know to do. You’re in your Word, you’re praying, you’re fasting, you’re giving, you’re serving … but still, you are weary in the waiting.

If that’s the season you are walking in, you’re not alone, and this is what your loving Father wants you to know…

9 “So I say to you, ask and keep on asking, and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking, and you will find; knock and keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who keeps on asking [persistently], receives; and he who keeps on seeking [persistently], finds; and to him who keeps on knocking [persistently], the door will be opened. -Luke 11:9-10 AMP

Not too long ago, I was at a prayer night that I co-lead with my husband. The presence of God was so tangible in the room, and I sensed this prompting from the Spirit to instruct everyone to take a moment to talk to Jesus as you would a friend. So, we all dispersed and took time alone with Jesus. I found my place, sat down and immediately the tears started flowing. I was weary in the waiting. I said, “I’m doing the things your Word says to do Lord, why am I not seeing breakthrough in this area?!” Then in the most loving, still small voice that pierced my spirit, I heard, “Keep Knocking.” I grabbed my Bible and flipped to find this scripture. When I did I was comforted with this revelation…

When you’re in the waiting, sometimes it's not about doing anything different, it’s about doing the same things persistently. It's persistent faith that moves the hand of God in your situation. It’s persistent prayers that push back against darkness. The devil wants you to back down in the pressing but you know what is the best payback to the devil… out last him. Don’t quit woman of God. Your waiting is not wasted. Your fight of faith is not wasted. Keep doing the things you know to do. Open up your Bible and let it be a light to your path. Pray with gratitude and expectancy. Get in the House of God and around other believers who will lift you up in this season. Remove the distractions that the enemy is throwing at you to trip you up. Lock in on your Creator and take refuge in Him to let Him fight for you. Take rest in the shelter of the Most High knowing the answer is on the way! Your job is to have faith, God’s job is the result and He is not a man that He should lie. Just because you haven’t seen your answered prayer yet, doesn’t always mean that your faith isn’t strong enough. It means that His timing is perfect and you must stay persistent. Even when you don’t see it, know that you can trust God’s character. He is our healer, our provider, our peace, our restorer.

Keep asking. Keep seeking. Keep knocking.
