Creating A Vision Board
Creating a Vision Board
What you behold you become! Your mind is like a computer, what you continually focus on or see is what you will become. In Genesis, God gives Abram a promise to become the father of many nations. At that point Abram didn’t have one child, let alone to be the father of nations. In the natural, not only did this promise seem improbable, but impossible!
God did something very interesting with Abram to ensure they were on the same page when it came to God’s promise becoming a reality. He took Abram outside his tent and told him to look up at the stars and to try to count them. He gave Abram a vision board, a picture in his mind of the vastness of God’s plan and promise. He removed the boundaries of the tent and opened Abram’s mind to what was possible with God.
That is what a vision board does. It gives you permission to dream and create, to remove the boundary lines you have set in your own life. God never thinks in terms of restrictions. The only limiting factor in your life is your ability to get outside of the tent and catch a glimpse of God’s mind for your life!
Take time and think! Start with the end in mind!
Take some time to think and ask yourself these questions:
What would make 2023 the best year of my life to date?
What are the desires of my heart for this year? (Be specific!)
What are the things I know God has for me to do that I keep burying in the back of my heart?
These dreams can be personal, career oriented, financial, or even a vision for your family.
Prepare your supplies!
Grab any supplies to make your board something you want to look at. Your board should not only show your dreams for this year, but also include quotes, scriptures, or pictures that keep you motivated.
Supplies you may need include:
corkboard
push pins
tape
computer/ printer
scrapbooking paper (for decoration)
words, quotes, and scriptures that are important to you
Keep it in Front of You
So you made your vision board, now what?
Well, making a pretty board with motivational pictures and words is just the beginning! Hang it somewhere that you will see it several times a day. Remember, what you behold you will become, so keep it visible!
After God took Abram outside of the tent in Genesis, He did something else. God changed Abram’s name! He went from Abram to Abraham. Abraham means “father of many nations”.
God wanted to ensure that that destiny was being declared over Abraham’s life. You probably won’t change your name but understand the power of your declarations when it comes to your dreams.
Speak over it!
Use your vision board as direction to what you are declaring over your life. Remember, the power of life and death is in the tongue. Each time you declare and speak over your dreams you are giving life to them!
Create goals around your vision board. Making a board is just the beginning. Sit down with a goal plan and give your dreams action steps! This is where it gets real.
Take Inventory!
Revisit your vision board and measure your success according to your goals. Don’t wait until December of 2023 and wonder why you haven’t accomplished anything on your board. Make it a habit to revisit your dreams for the year and ask yourself how you are setting yourself up for God to bring your dreams to pass this year.
This will give you clarity, keep you on course, and keep you activating your faith to see your dreams come to pass!
Take a Vision Retreat!
Grab some friends and make your vision boards together. There is power in accountability so gather some of your close friends who dream big and make a weekend of creating your best year yet!
Find a place to gather with all of your materials, take some time to dream together over coffee and pastries, and then start creating! Assemble your vision board with creativity. Cut out pictures of inspiring quotes or use pretty background paper. Share your talents with each other to make sure that everyone has a well-thought out, inspirational, pretty board.
After you have fun sharing in each other’s dreams, take a minute and pray together as a group. Declare God’s word over every dream you have for 2023!
