Declaring Your Destiny
Becoming What You Say - Declaring Your Destiny
“take ships for example. Although they are large and driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body that makes great boasts.” James 3:4
What have you been saying? This is a question I ask myself often. Sometimes there is a disconnect between my spirit and my mouth. It is that innate desire to let my words become controlled by my emotions. It’s way too easy to allow my emotions to dictate my speech. It can be much easier to speak in alignment with what you are seeing and feeling, rather than speaking in faith, but this is a dangerous place to be. Your words are designed to create, not respond. Your human nature tells you the opposite. Human nature tells you your words are just for communication, not creation. The reality is when you open your mouth, you are actually creating your destiny.
“Declare a thing and it will be established before you.” Job 22:28
God actually created the heavens and the earth with His spoken word, and your words hold the same creative power!
So, what are you creating? John 10:10 states, “The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy but I have come to bring you life and life abundantly.”
There are two plans for your life- God’s plan to prosper you and the enemy’s plan to destroy you. Your words are aligning with one of these two plans. Your mouth is either producing life or death. (Proverbs 18:21) So when thoughts of fear come into your mind and you speak in alignment with it, you are giving that thought life. It’s like the amen to the thought… the “let it be”. Instead, when a thought of fear comes, speak God’s word over the situation. Instead of letting that thought torment you, let it be a cue for you to open up your mouth and declare God’s word!
As you open up your mouth and declare truth over your emotions, and sometimes even over your reality, you are moving forward in God’s plan for your life. Remember, your words are for creation not just communication. Even if the reality of what you are facing is difficult, don’t align your words with it. Always make room for faith and God’s promises with your words. Declare what you know is truth, not just what you see as reality.
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for the conviction of the things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1
Faith is the conviction or full belief in what isn’t seen. Conviction is what you believe. If you truly believe God’s word is true, not only will you believe it, but you will start to speak it!
