Renew Your Mind

Your expectation will determine your faith! But I see too many people who allow their past circumstances and disappointments to dominate their thoughts. God has called us to a new way of thinking! In today’s podcast, you’ll learn how to identify negative thought patterns, establish a Christian mindset, and change the narrative you are telling yourself so you can see God’s plans come to pass in your life.

Faith is the way we take hold of the promises of God. If you want to see His Promises come to pass in your life, you have to believe Him! If you struggle to expect the positive and find yourself worrying about all the negative things that could happen, try taking these two steps.

1. Know what God wants for your life.

Sometimes we set our expectations out of fear or disappointment. If you feel disappointed that you didn’t see healing in the past, it may feel easier not to believe in healing in the present. You can see this mindset in the woman in 2 Kings 4:11-35 who told the prophet Elisha not to promise her a son because she had longed for one for years. Still, God fulfilled his promise to her. Remember, God’s intent is not for you to suffer through life! He wants you to get into His Word and wrap your faith and expectation around every promise He made.

2. Take control of the narrative.

God doesn’t want you to have negative beliefs about your future, but he can’t control your thinking. He has given you the power to have a sound mind through the Holy Spirit. Your job is to retrain your mind to a new way of thinking and expectation. Romans 12:2 says that you need to renew your mind with the Word of God. Meditate on his promises and take captive every thought that is contrary to the Word of God. You may not be able to control every thought you think, but you can control what you meditate on and take control of the narrative you are telling yourself.

Pray this: Father God, I know you have good plans for me. Help me to keep your promises at the center of my mind. Help me to stay disciplined in my thoughts and refuse to give in to the enemy's lies. I love you, and I trust you with my life! In Jesus’ name, amen!
