Planning for Success

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Do you ever find yourself having great intentions but need help following through? Do not feel weary; you are not alone in this cycle! We can practically equip ourselves to see things happen in our life! It is time to start walking in the good things God has for you!

To plan for your success, you have to be able to connect your “why” to your goals in every season. We are given a grand version of our lives, but He also gives us seasonal visions according to where we are in life. The Word tells us that God's people perish for lack of this vision. It is not just about crossing the finish line to our destiny but equally about every step we take toward our end goal!

Start by looking at your goals from start to end to see how you can chunk them into small manageable goals in your current season. For example, I will look ahead to the end of this season and ask myself, “What would make this the best summer we have ever had?” I then will take my planner and pencil in what I refer to as my anchor items. 90% of these items have to stick, and I will leave 10% of them to be flexible to adjust. Ensuring you have your “anchor in” items will keep the natural rhythm of life flowing, things like birthdays, holidays, kids' recurring activities, etc. Next, making your to-do list to correspond and prepare for these anchor points is helpful. Lastly, put in the highest-value items you have in life. Maybe you are a new Mom, so your family is your primary focus. Maybe you recently married and know time together as a couple is crucial. Perhaps you are starting a business, so setting up meetings with mentors will best help move you forward this season.

The last practical tip is always to keep your why in front of you. In other words, you want to make your list practical and motivational to succeed! Taking that a step further, you can assign specific tasks that will keep you committed to the follow-through of these actions. Pull in your support system and lean on friends and spouses; we are not meant to do this alone! As you dive into the Word this week and plan out your season, I cannot wait to see how God lights the path to your promises awaiting!
