Anointed to Go Past Hard

What do you do when things feel… hard? The devil wants to get you to quit, but the reality is that you were not created to give up. You are anointed by God to go past hard and to see every promise in His Word come to pass.

We see in the Word of God that people had to go past hard to get their miracle. In Mark 2:1-5, we see the story of the lame man whose friends wanted to get him to Jesus. Unfortunately, there was a huge crowd, and they couldn’t get near the house where he was preaching, let alone close enough to get Jesus’s attention.

These friends decided to climb on top of the house, tear off the roof and lower their friend down into the room where Jesus was teaching. Can you imagine? They risked angering the owner of the house. They had to fight through the crowd to get to the house and carry their friend onto the roof. But when they went past hard, they saw Jesus do the impossible and change their friend’s life forever.

If you go past your comfort point, you will see your greatest breakthrough.

If you are struggling with something that feels hard, try taking these three steps.

  1. Discern what that hard thing is.

Use the Holy Spirit to discern whether the thing that feels hard is from God. If God is in it, you will not fail! Knowing that God is on your side and that you are doing what He wants you to do will help fuel your faith and determination. The Holy Spirit will show you whether it is a direction, desire, or distraction. If you can walk away from it, it’s probably not from God. If it’s a desire from God, you can’t quit. It keeps coming back to you and tugging at your heart.

Q: What feels hard in your life right now? Ask the Holy Spirit if it is a directive, desire, or distraction. Based on what the Holy Spirit said, what next step can you take to move past hard?

  2. Dig deeper.

Doing what God has called you to do will require a deeper level of discipline, determination, and strength. Don’t do it on your own; lean into the supernatural power of God! If he calls you to it, he will give you the strength to dig deeper and keep going.

Q: Describe a time when you relied on your own strength instead of God’s. What was the result? Now describe a time when you relied on God’s strength over your own. How was that experience different?

  3. Make a decision.

Too many Christians quit before they see God’s promises in their life. Resolve yourself that you will complete the assignment God has given you!

Q: Do you ever struggle with being indecisive? Maybe you start a diet plan and give up a week later, or decide to go to the gym but stop training after a month. Why do you think you struggle to stick to your plans? How can you bring God into your goals and increase your resolve?

Pray this:

Father God, thank you for giving me desires and directives. Help me to hear the voice of your Holy Spirit clearly and to put my focus on what you have called me to do. Give me the strength to leave any past distractions and keep moving when things feel hard. I love you, and I want to honor you with my life. Thank you for always teaching and leading me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
