3 Ways to Hear God's Voice More Clearly

Have you ever heard God speak to you? It's easy to expect God to speak in the big moments, but sometimes God wants to talk to you in the mundane, everyday moments. God wants to speak to you, so expect it! In this episode of the Joie Miller Podcast, I'm sharing three ways that you can hear the voice of God more clearly.

Let's start by taking a look at 1 Kings 19:11-13:

The Lord said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind, there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.  1 Kings 19:11-13

God speaks in the moments when we need to hear Him. As a young mom, you might hear God speaking to you as you watch veggie tales with your toddlers. You may hear Him speak to you as you pray in the car! The secret isn't chasing after big moments of encounter with Him. It's learning how to abide in His presence. When you hear His Word, you can cling to his promises no matter what happens.

3 Ways to Hear the Voice of God more Clearly

  1. Expect Him to speak to you!

  2. Check your reception. What is your spiritual diet? Are you tuned into the right thing? When you're in chaos, you won't be able to hear God. If you feel like you are far from Him, try fasting and taking time away from TV or other types of entertainment.

  3. Read the Word. God's Word is His will. If you want to hear from God, he speaks through his Word. As God speaks to you, you can also use the bible check and see if what you hear lines up with the Word of God.

Pray This: Father God, thank you for giving me your Word to lead and guide me. As I continue to draw close to you, help me be attentive to your voice. Help me to look for you in the big moments and the still, quiet, and mundane moments. I love you! In Jesus' name, amen.
