The Key To Winning At Life
To quote Forrest Gump, “Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re gonna get.” Life is strange like that. Just when you think you have it figured out—it changes. So how can you know that everything is going to end in victory? How can you sleep at night without being tormented by the trials surrounding you? The number one key to a life of victory (because of Jesus) is knowing that if I don’t quit—I win. Perseverance is the key.
The key to winning at life is simply not quitting.
My sons wrestle. As I watch a match between two boys, I can tangibly see when one quits. Every so often, there will be a match where one of the boys accepts defeat before the score is settled. There is a visible change in their demeanor, confidence, and effort that speaks forfeit. They may not physically say that they quit, but everything in them speaks that the fight is over. A match like this says a lot about the athlete. On the other hand, I have witnessed a match where one wrestler was clearly out wrestling the other, but the underdog continued to give it his all to the very end.
The enemy is counting on you to quit. In fact, his only move Biblically to take you out of victory is to wear you out to the point of forfeit. If he can make you think you can’t fight any longer or that the fight is hopeless, you will quit. As Christians, we often bank on an easy life once we know Jesus. We give up or speak doubt at the sign of any battle or adversity. As a follower of Christ, you aren’t guaranteed a life without trials—what you are guaranteed is a life without defeat! John 16:33 says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!” Jesus reminds us that as long as we are alive on planet Earth we will have things—trials, battles, temptations—Yet in Him, we can walk in victory.
Because of Jesus, there isn’t one thing that can cause you defeat or take you out unless you allow it. We allow defeat when we quit fighting or when the faith deflates from us like a balloon with a hole in it at the first sign of trouble. You are not made to quit; you are made for victory! You are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus! That means you are more than equipped for any obstacle you come against. Tap into your spiritual blessings of faith, peace, and joy! These blessings are gifts to sustain you when you want to quit or when situations look like defeat is imminent. Keep going. In Jesus, everything is being orchestrated for your good… even if it doesn’t look like it in the moment, don’t you dare quit!
Ephesians 6:13 reminds us, “ Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything to stand.” Girl—get your armor on! God is working—you just need to keep standing. Think of your battle as a standoff. As you stand in faith, the enemy is waiting for you to quit. Today, decide that quitting is not an option—in Christ Jesus, victory is guaranteed if you don’t quit! If it doesn’t look, taste, or feel like victory, it’s not over yet. God isn’t finished yet. So, keep standing, keep believing, and STAY in faith, and you will see a breakthrough in Jesus' Name!
