Faith Has Feet
Faith has feet! Have you ever gone to a grocery store, Target, or even the mall and noticed they conveniently have motion activated doors? As I am carting out the stuff I’ve bought, all I have to do is keep walking and the doors open in front of me. Faith operates in the same way.
Faith takes action. As easy as it is to adapt to a theology that if God wants to do something He will simply do it, that’s just not how it works. If God acted on what He wanted man to do all the time, we wouldn’t have a free will. God works with us as we believe Him for things. Think about Abraham in the Bible. God established a covenant with Abraham. It went something like this in Genesis 12, “Abraham go to the land I will show you… and then I will.” God’s conversation with Abraham was an if you obey and go, then I will show you how faithful I am!
Faith has action, and action is expressed through obedience. Abraham’s story isn’t the only instance of faith in action in the Bible. In Mark 2, some friends climbed on the roof of a house carrying their paralyzed friend to get him to Jesus. They believed that if they could just get him to Jesus, he would be made whole. After these men tore off the roof and lowered their friend into the room Jesus was in, the Bible says that Jesus saw their faith. How does the Lord “see” our faith? It’s through our actions!
So, what is it that God is asking you to do today? Do you feel like you are at a dead end or a closed door? Go back and ask yourself what the last bit of instruction God gave you. Did you do it? Look in God’s Word for instruction on how you can step out in faith. When God gives you a promise or a word, He always gives you the opportunity to obey through moving forward in faith!
Many people are waiting on God to move in their life. God is just waiting for someone to start walking in faith. Remember, we walk by faith not sight! As you step out in obedience and do what you can do, God will do what only He can! Start walking!
