SHOW NOTES:
Want a simple key that will change your life without changing a thing? Look no further than gratitude! Gratitude affects your soul and brings you joy. Pivoting your perspective and implementing gratitude will cause you to love the life you already have.
Scripturally, the Bible teaches us that gratitude is one of the quickest and easiest ways to enter the presence of God. Nothing draws God’s presence more than a grateful heart! Gratitude is a vital aspect of faith, and intentionally practicing it can truly transform your life.
In the Bible, the Israelites had an opportunity to cease their breakthrough. They were released from slavery in Egypt and into the promised land; God had finally answered their prayers. However, it wasn’t long before they began to complain. Instead of being grateful, they magnified what was wrong in the situation. Focusing your eyes on the wrong things can quickly take you out of gratitude, leading your heart toward comparison and complaint.
Ask yourself this today: Are you walking in the things you believe God for but, instead of being thankful, are you complaining? Be proactive in watching your perspective as God continues to answer prayers. Just because it doesn’t always look like what we think it should doesn’t mean God’s not working.
Complaining repels and puts limits on faith while gratitude compels it. Don’t wait for everything to be perfect to thank God. Make gratitude a part of your daily life today by implementing these simple tips:
Be as specific as possible in your gratitude. The more you think about things and get specific, the more grateful you are.
Go deep. Get detailed about a specific thing you’re grateful for. Focus on one area–provision, for example, then write down all of the ways God has provided.
Get personal. Start to be grateful for relationships and people. Celebrate the good moments rather than focusing on the moments we may have been disappointed.
Consider subtraction as well as addition. Thank God for what you do have and what He has taken from you and protected you from.
See things as a gift rather than an entitlement. Write them down regularly and write down unique things every day.
Savor the surprises and unexpected blessings in your life.
As you implement gratitude, your whole life will change, stay grateful, pivot your perspective, and see what God does in your life.
