SHOW NOTES:
A common misconception circulating in the Christian community is that we are only to focus on the spiritual aspect of ourselves. It’s easy to neglect our physical wellness, however, scripturally, God gives us responsibility for stewarding our health and body unto the Lord.
To live a healthy life means to steward all that God has given you. You’ll lose what you don’t steward well! Maintaining a healthy lifestyle creates longevity–it helps you sustain the purpose of God in your life. Sure, confidence in oneself is a bonus, but more significantly, jeopardizing your health can prematurely cut short your kingdom purpose and kingdom work!
If the area of health and wellness is new to you or something you haven’t been able to master, let this be an encouragement to you to start today. Decide that you will take action. By taking proactive measures now, you can help avoid having to take reactive measures later. Whether it’s our physical temple or spirituality that we are doing maintenance on, creating little patterns and goals is key. Don’t feel overwhelmed to change everything all at once. Choose to make small lifestyle changes. Learn to position your life to make a constant investment. Say goodbye to crash diets, or unrealistic exercise programs. Find a rhythm you can be consistent in to take care of your body. Start by asking yourself what forms of physical activity you enjoy. What feels good for your body, mind, and soul?
Prioritizing the care of your body requires self-control and discipline, which are considered fruits of the spirit. We wouldn’t want to disregard the fruit of the spirit in our spiritual lives, so why would we be okay with doing so when it pertains to our health? Our culture focuses so much on the grind of your work, but a lot of times we forget about developing physically healthy bodies that translate to the soul. Exercise is far more than just appearance. It brings wholeness and abundance to all areas of your life.
God wants us to be healthy. Don’t wait–make decisions and retrain yourself for what is good and what steps you will need to take to be the best version of yourself. Your body is a temple created by and for God; your willingness to invest in what God has given you is worship unto Him!
