Stay In The Flow

Nobody likes being told they need to change.

Many times, we can think change needs to come from an outside source--a person, a job, a spouse. There's always that one thing that needs to change and then all will be well in the world.

After all, we know our own hearts, right?

The thing about our hearts is that they can deceive us (Jeremiah 17:9). We can think we are right or justified in a situation, and then, it happens--the Lord gently reveals the motives of the heart. The content within our heart is a big deal to God.

Out of our hearts flows the issues of life; in other words, the attitude of the heart is the fundamental ground from which we will live our lives. If you want to be used by the Lord, there is always a purification process that takes place. This process doesn't happen just once; it's a continual check-up that keeps us in the flow of the Holy Spirit.

Just as your physical heart is the epicenter for life flow, your spirit is the epicenter for God's Spirit from which to flow. If your heart has a blockage, it will effect the overall health of your entire body. In the same way, if there are unhealthy blockages in your spiritual walk, it will effect the overall health of your spirituality and, hence, the issues of your life.

Proverbs 25:4 talks about the process of dross being removed from precious metal so that it can be used in a greater capacity. Holy Spirit brings the dross of our hearts to the surface so that we can get rid of the junk--attitudes, sin, etc.--and be used for a greater purpose. The only thing that can limit how God uses you is an unwillingness to yield to the work of the Holy Spirit when He shows you the areas of your life that may need a good cleaning.

"...because the Lord disciplines those He loves, as a father the son he delights in."

Proverbs 3:12

The Lord disciplines those He loves. Nobody enjoys discipline, but a wise man heeds the instruction of the Lord. If God is bringing something to the surface of your heart to deal with, know that it is because He loves you and has a great purpose for you to fulfill!

Ask Holy Spirit to help you identify dross in your heart, then get rid of it, and stay in the flow of what God is doing in and through your life!

There is absolutely nothing worth holding onto that would hinder fulfilling God's best for your life!

Stay in the FLOW!
