But God!
But God. Two words that change everything. Have you been in a situation where you feel like your back is up against the wall? In the natural, it doesn’t appear that there is a solution or a way out. It is in those moments that the enemy tells you that your situation is hopeless, or even final. You have a decision to make. You can either give up or choose faith.
Think about the word final, the definition means not to be altered or undone. In my mind, nothing better illustrates final than death. I remember when my mother passed away, wanting to change the outcome of what happened—yet death to the natural body was final. The bible says that when it comes to what Jesus did even in death—final is redefined by faith.
When Jesus hung from the cross and with His last breath declared, “it is finished” He redefined final. Even in death, Jesus made a way for victory. When Jesus defeated death, He made a way of victory for you and for me- even when it feels like there is no visible solution.
Romans 8 31-39
31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”[a]) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Nothing can ever separate you from the love of God expressed on the cross through Jesus. This love equates to victory over every finality. This love equates to hope in the midst of hopelessness. Not only did Jesus die on the cross—but He was raised to life! The resurrection power speaks life over every dead area—every area that seems dormant or forgotten. And the bible reminds us that the very same resurrection power that worked through Jesus is available to you today! Jesus in you is resurrection and life. This is Good News!
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11
The next time the enemy tries to tell you that your situation is final—remind yourself and him of these two words… But God!
